To my dear foreign friends, great pleasure to introduce you my favorite one of a range of Beijing Olympic songs - "Beijing Huan Ying Ni" or "Beijing welcomes you"


As the Chinese sage Confucius says, “Isn’t it a delight after all to have friends come from afar?"  It is really a pleasure of us to invite you to come to Beijing and we’ve been striving to provide you the best ever Olympic Games.

The song was composed in Chinese traditional rhythm, while the international perspective is the focus with the spirit “Beijing opens the door to friends all around the world”. Nearly a hundred singers (you knew Jackie Chan at least ;) took part in compiling recordings and sang it together for the first time during a gala celebrating the 100-day Olympic countdown on April 30, 2008.

Both the Beijing Organizing Committee and the author of the song (lyrics by Hong Kong's Lam Jik and music by Xiao Ke of the mainland) expect the song could be prevalent even after the Olympic game and become the anthem of Beijing.

Though it is in Chinese, I wish you enjoy the beautiful rhythm, the cityscapes, the Chinese culture and especially the sincere welcome embedded in the song. No matter you “love” or still “misunderstand” China for the moment, you are all welcome to Beijing to discover it by yourself. We are expecting to show you our smile and kindness ;)
